I’m Larry Fauls–owner of Color Your World Painting–a local painting company.
I first learned my craft as an apprentice in the family business. As my painting skills progressed so did the offers to work for other painting companies. Branching out, I learned techniques that customers expressed appreciation for and rarely found with other painters or painting companies.
For more than thirty years, I’ve applied paint to structures in severe weather conditions from snow topped roofs to metal buildings in desert heat. Drastic changes in the environment means that painting is more than just wiping dust off a surface to add primer and color. I’ve learned through trial and error how to prime and paint surfaces, so the entire area is covered, and the paint protects the medium it covers. For example, anything loose has to be screwed in. I once put over 500 screws in a customer’s house to make sure all wood surfaces were even for paint application.
Listening to customer questions, I pay attention to their concerns–even when they aren’t spoken aloud. Most customers worry about color. While paint color is a customer’s choice, I explain that the sun’s intensity and any light has to be taken into consideration when choosing a specific paint color or stain.
Depending upon the type of light, a color will change. Before choosing a color, test out a large patch of paint or stain on the surface to see how the color looks at different times of day. Does the color on the wall or building match the test swatch?
Also, every surface absorbs paint and stain differently. The composition of the material has to be taken into consideration before applying color to it. Just as an extreme environment can affect the paint or stain, it can also affect the medium painted.
My best advice to customers is to be open to a color that matches the desired effect for the space. When customers take this approach, they are happier with the final product. Customers appreciate my attention to detail because they realize I genuinely care about the work I perform–as well as the finished project they want to see.
I’m very proud to say that customers rely on my extensive knowledge about paint, stain, surfaces, structures, and prep work. When they hire me and my company, they no longer stress over the finished product. After a written estimate, they wisely choose a painting company with their best interests at heart.
“Every good painter paints what he is.”
~ Jackson Pollock
They were GREAT! Worked within my time frame. The attention to detail was greatly appropriated. Will use again if I have other painting projects.
Very professional, very good quality of work, completed project before set deadline. Would hire him again in a bliss. He went over and above the job.
Larry was great throughout the process. He was quick to swing by and provide a fair estimate, matched paint, repaired some stucco, very responsive with email and calls, and was able to schedule us within a week. We are very satisfied with his work. Looks great!
